The orthodox methods of mere detox for nearly a week or more followed by a basic counseling therapy for six months to a year have now undergone a sea change. Like all other progressive states of the US, even Florida has to fight a severe substance abuse problem. 5% of the population of Florida is of the people who need either alcohol rehab or drug rehab treatment currently.

Actually, we should not accept that a person who is into drug addiction will simply own up their addiction to their close family or even to their friends. They will be in a state of denial at the outset, when they will disagree that there’s something wrong with them and that it can be only solved with treatment.

It is extremely foolish to see someone in the clutched of drug addiction and not do anything about it. If you are the victim of drug addiction yourself, then it is pardonable that you are not actively looking for treatment because people in drug addiction lose the capacity of rationalizing things and understanding what is right or wrong. But if there’s someone you know into substance abuse, get them into an addiction treatment program as soon as possible.

The classical definition of disease is dis-ease, i.e. when a body is not at ease. If we go by this definition alone, it is sufficient to classify any kind of substance abuse as a disease. Substance abuse, including alcohol abuse and drug cause, causes an incessant craving in the person for that substance.
