A Review Of Alternative Care Treatment Systems (ACTS)

Alternative Care Treatment Systems (ACTS) provides person-centered, mental health, developmental disability and substance abuse services for those in need of treatment. They provide high quality services helping people with disabilities improve their lives in a caring and loving atmosphere.

ACTS has several locations and offers a vast amount of services to those in need. Alternative Care Treatment Systems locations in North Carolina include Beulaville, Clinton, Durham, WakeForest, Sanford, Wilson, Kenansville, Kinston, Lumberton, Fayetteville and Goldsboro.

ACTS Services

Community Support-Adults (MH/SA) consists of mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation services and supports that are necessary to assist the person in achieving and maintaining rehabilitative, sobriety, and recovery goals.

Community Support Child/Adolescents (MH/SA) are services and supports that are necessary to assist the youth ages 3 to 17 years of age or younger (20 years old or younger for children enrolled in Medicaid) and their caregivers in achieving and maintaining developmental, rehabilitative, and recovery goals.

Community Support Team (CST) (MH/SA) services consist of mental health and substance abuse rehabilitation services and supports that are necessary to assist adults aged 18 and older in achieving rehabilitative and recovery goals.

Diagnostic/Assessment (MH/DD/SA) is an intensive clinical and functional face to face evaluation of a recipient’s mental health, developmental disability, or substance abuse condition that results in the issuance of a Diagnostic/Assessment report with recommendation regarding whether the recipient meets target population criteria, and includes an order for enhanced benefit services that provides the basis for the development of an initial Person Centered Plan.

Targeted Case Management services are a required service for individual’s participating in this waiver. Targeted case management is a Medicaid State Plan service.

Person Centered Planning takes a strengths-based approach to identify services and supports that may be medically necessary to assist individuals in achieving their goals and objectives.

Intensive In Home Services is a time-limited intensive family preservation intervention that’s intended to stabilize the living arrangement, promote reunification or prevent the utilization of out of home therapeutic resources for the identified youth through the age of 20.

Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) is a service provided by an interdisciplinary team that ensures services availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is prepared to carry out a full range of treatment functions wherever and whenever needed.

CAP Services Day Supports provide assistance with acquisition, retention, or improvement in self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills, which take place in a non-residential setting, separate from the home or facility in which the individual resides.

Developmental Therapy is a developmental disability service that includes individually designed instruction, training or functional developmental intervention activities based on the assessment of, and unique strengths and needs of the child, youth, and family or adult.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) is a service that’s designed to help adults with psychiatric disabilities increase their functioning so that they can be successful and satisfied in the environments of their choice with the least amount of ongoing professional intervention.

Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Program (SAIOP) is a structured individual and group addiction activity and service that is provided on an outpatient basis. SAIOP is designed to assist adult and adolescent consumers in beginning recovery and learning skills for recovery maintenance.

Individual Psychotherapy, Psychiatric Services, Group Psychotherapy, and Medication Management are also part of ACTS services. Alternative Care Treatment Systems in North Carolina crisis lines are available in all areas they serve and are available to consumers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
